Biography

After graduating from Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University with degrees in Theatre Arts and Communications, Bradley Nies was employed with Blinn College-Brenham as Director and Professor of Theatre Arts and Communication Studies for 36 years. He became a member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association in 1992, and he joined the TxETA Adjudicator's Organization in 1997. Bradley was the recipient of the 2007 Blinn College Professional Association Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2008 TxETA Educator of the Year-Community College Division, the 2012 TxETA Playwriting Award-Texas Resident, and the 2015 NISOD Teaching Excellence Award. He currently has seven plays published through Next Stage Press LLC.

Artistic Statement

Bradley Nies' plays and stories touch upon a part of America’s dark history that many people do not know. His core values as a writer include telling a worthwhile story that educates and enlightens the audiences. His work as a director has helped him to create strong action statements, good dramatic structure, and characters with clear and present inner and outer needs. Research is an important part of Bradley Nies' work, as it helps to provide validity to the stories he tells.
